Yes, you heard that right! Since I am leaving for Florida this week I decided this will be the PERFECT #BlogFest post! You know you’re going to be on the beach, sun beaming down on you, you need to stay hydrated, you want to look good in your bathing suit but...you want to get-yo-drankkkk on. SO what’re you going to do… grab a pina colada, beer, or mixed drink? Few too many of those and you will either be in a sugar or beer enduced coma with a bloated belly and ending up having to put your cover-up on (NO FUN).

So let me help you out... ditch the sugary calorie filled mixed drinks and pick from the options below to help you out!

For my Beer/Corona Drinkers:

Budweiser Select 55: 55 Calories

Miller Genuine Draft Light 64 (MGD 64): 64 Calories

Busch Light: 95 Calories

Amstel Light: 95 Calories

Michelob Ultra: 95 Calories

Miller Light: 96 Calories

Coors Light: 102 Calories

Top 10 Best Mixed Drink Picks

For my Mixed Drinkers:

All mixed drinks are 100 calories or less. 1 fl Vodka, Rum, Malibu Rum and Tequila are around 51-69 Calories. The average shot equals 1.5 fl oz (96-103 calories).

Watermelon Mojito:

(Double or Triple the recipe and bring a jug to the beach)

3-4 Cubes of Watermelon

Rum

Mint Leaves

Sparking Water (Perrier, La Croix, L. Pellegrino, Dasani)

Ice

Muddle with a wooden pestle or a big spoon to gently crush cubes of watermelon with fresh mint leaves. Add rum and sparking water for a sweet mojito with half the usual calories.

Simple Margarita:

(Make ahead or ask at the bar to make it this way—ALWAYS with a smile though)

Shot Tequila

Lime Juice to taste

Club Soda (0 Calories, 75 mg Sodium per 12 fl. Oz.)

Ice

Shake all ingredients together with ice and serve.

Cosmopolitan:

Diet Cranberry (5 Calories)

Vodka

Fresh Lime Juice

Orange Juice

Ice

Toss all ingredients in a martini shaker and shake until mixed. Serve in martini glasses and garnish with orange peel. Or make ahead few batches and bring down to the beach with you in a cup of ice.)

Skinny Vodka Arnold Palmer

Vitamin Water Zero Lemonade or Crystal Light Lemonade (10 Calories)

Unsweetened Iced Tea (O Calories)

Vodka

Combine all together and serve over ice.

Malibu Sun Splash

Malibu Rum (can use Tequila too)

Diet Cranberry Juice (5 Calories)

Orange Juice (111 Calories per 8 fl. oz)

Orange Peel

Combine all together and serve over ice.

Mojito

1/2 lime

3-5 sprigs mint (more is better)

Skinny Cocktails Dos:

  1. Choose fresh 100% juice rather than mixes

  2. Use zero-calorie bubblers instead of soft drinks. Try flavored seltzer, sparkling water, club soda or Mio squirt shots)

  3. Fewer ingredients means fewer calories

  4. Pay attention. Moderation is key for your waistline and health

  5. Always ask bartender what exactly ingredients are in the drink and go from there!
