No Bloat Breakfast Tips
Is there one food item you love so much you don't care if it makes you bloated? Your like, "man I want pizza." Go have pizza then you're bloated for hours.
Don't be shy, you know what I am talking about!
That one food item happens to be at breakfast time that I love so much. Two months ago I finally decided to take it out of my daily regimen, because I was fed up with eating "clean" and still experiencing the bloat!
The food item...
Oats...gluten free oatmeal actually (the one thats in the grocery store aisle that's $1-4 more then regular oats (thanks Celiac Disease!)
Everyone's unique in their own way; therefore, your digestive system will reject certain foods when the person next to you eats the same food and experiences nothing.
I cherish breakfast time. I go all out and make myself an omelet, fruit and some type of gluten free grain.
I can have oats every once in awhile and not experience bloat, but everyday I definitely will.
So what do you do? Start eliminating items out of your meal (one at a time, keeping everything else the same) until you find the problem..
Damn, I thought it was the coffee!
Discovering oats were the cause for my daily bloat (lasting for good two-hours after breakfast time) was a bit tricky. I noticed after breakfast time I would be insanely bloated for good 2-hours, until my breakfast digested. At first, I thought, “maybe it’s the coffee?” Eliminated coffee two-weeks, and besides the fact my energy lagged, headaches occurred from withdrawal; the bloat still occurred!
“Maybe it’s the fruit,” I said to myself. Eliminated fruit for few days, keeping everything else the same (omelet, ½ cup oats with cinnamon, coffee with coconut oil); nothing changed.
Then I thought, hmm..maybe it’s the oats? But it can’t be. Oats are good for you and I’m getting gluten free!
Well, I was wrong; however, I discovered the problem was not coffee (thank goodness) or the fruit, it was the oats!
Now, let me clarify, oats are great for you. They’re packed with fiber, complex carbohydrate, and protein to help keep you full for longer duration time. Like I stated earlier, everyone’s body is unique. My body rejects gluten—thanks to Celiac Disease, and your body may or may not reject gluten. Oats take longer time to digest (remember for my body) and therefore I experience bloat for roughly 2-hours after breakfast—until they’re digested.
I still consume oats when traveling (easy grab-n-go breakfast item), or every once in awhile, just not everyday (like the past).
